Major Arcana

The major arcana includes cards like Death, the Empress, the Tower, the Fool, and the Magician. The card names may be slightly different, depending on what deck they come from, but they would represent the same thing. Each card is assigned a meaning, which can be reversed if the card is dealt right side up or upside down. These meanings aren't generally extremely precise and can depend on other cards in the reading to get a fuller meaning. Minor Arcana

The minor arcana comprises four suits, each with ten number cards and three face cards, just like a playing card deck. The suits are called cups, pentacles, swords, and wands. Again, like the major arcana, the suit names may vary depending on the deck, but it is rarer. Each number card, 1-10, and the three face cards in each suit has its meaning. The overall suit has a thematic meaning, and the individual card sharpens that meaning.
