Resting On The Sabbath Day

If you are one of many religions that believe God created the world and then chose to rest on the seventh day, you may wonder what exactly that means. There are several different interpretations of what exactly this means, as well as what God aimed to teach mankind. If you are not exactly what this means as pertaining to your specific religion, talk to your pastor, bishop, or spiritual leader.

God frequently did things to show mankind what He wanted them to do. Resting on the seventh day was no exception. If you are trying to make the seventh day of your week more meaningful, here are a few suggestions as to things you could do either alone or with your family.

Appreciate Nature

If you think about the sequence of events, the Book of Genesis explains that God created every aspect of the whole world, and then He rested. What did He do during that time? Well, if you had just made something as beautiful and awe-inspiring as this earth, wouldn't you have then taken some time to appreciate it? It makes sense then that appreciating nature is also something we should do on the day of rest. Go on a hike with your family, or simply sit outside and take it all in. Few things manifest the glory of God like nature.

Ponder Spiritual Things

There are so many things that can be learned from the Holy Bible. There are literally millions of sermons and spiritual thoughts offered on video and radio streaming services that may uplift your soul. During the hectic workweek, it may be hard to find time to go over God's holy word, but the sabbath is a beautiful time for that.

Spend Time With Family

God is love, right? So, what better way is there to spend the sabbath than surrounded by those you love? The next time sabbath rolls around, you should gather together your family or friend group and just relish in one another's company. Few things can help you to feel as loved and supported as surrounding yourself with the people God has blessed you with.

In conclusion, no matter what religion you are, you can make the sabbath special by trying to be more spiritually minded and appreciating God's creation. Putting even just a bit of effort into resting the seventh day will likely have big spiritual and physical results. May God bless your efforts.
